China takes 60% of Panama copper exports

A majority (60%) of the copper extracted from the open-cast mine in Panama’s Colón province is destined for China the world’s biggest consumer of the mineral.

China consumes half of the world’s production of copper. Minera Panama, a subsidiary of Canada’s First Quantum, has the rights to 13,000 hectares in Donoso, according to Newsroom Panama.
