Drivers in Panama City may not have to renew their license plates every year.

The Panama City Mayor’s office is evaluating whether to extend renewal periods to five years in coordination with the Chapala Vocational School that produces Panama City plates.

There are an estimated 650,000 vehicles registered in the city, of which 80,000 are out of circulation or do not have current plates.
