Ventura Ceballos in Custody

Ten days after breaking out of La Nueva Joya penitentiary, Gilberto Ventura Ceballos is back behind bars.

The convict, who was serving time for killing five people in 2011, escaped the maximum security prison in Pacora on Feb. 3 with the assistance of prison personnel. A manhunt led authorities 250 miles away to El Salado in Remedios, Chiriqui, where they found a dehydrated and emaciated Ventura Ceballos hiding under a bridge with a radio, flashlight, binoculars and $700 in cash.

He was flown to Albrook Airport and then transferred to a holding cell at police headquarters in Ancon after a medical check.
